GO ISSAWIYA
"The work deals with Issawiya; a personal, subjective look at the reality that I meet every time I visit Mount Scopus, the university or Bezalel, from which the village can be fully seen but is absent from consciousness. I see this dissonance as a characteristic response to living in the realty of a complex conflict that requires one to defend oneself mentally in order to continue to live and create. The source of this work is a series of drawings of the village that I began two years ago, and continued it in animated video productions of drawing in stop motion, and then a series of drawings on disposable plates and utensils: Issawiya Service. The realistic look of the drawing of the village became an imaginary metaphorical viewpoint in which the viewer, observer or illustrator of the village, is in “a different place”, a hallucinatory territory from which Issawiya can be seen: the sea shore, a lake, mountains, scenes of Japan and China…""In an installation for “Manofim” I want to mount a few dozen black plastic disposable plates on which will be drawings in gold paint of Issawiya from an imaginary point of view. The Chinese game of Go which deals with territories, tactics and strategies of expansion, encirclement, colonies, blockades, sacrifice… will serve as the visual key to the placement of the plates (stones in the game) on the walls and perhaps the floor as well. A video production of the process of drawing, building and destruction, in black and gold paint will be placed on the floor of the space. It is planned for 360° view."
